Overview

Manaslu Circuit Trek

Led by Women, Safe for You,

The Manaslu Circuit Trek offers an extraordinary adventure through Nepal’s remote and diverse landscapes. Starting from Soti Machhakhola, the most popular trailhead, the journey follows the picturesque Budi Gandaki River, reached by jeep via Aarughat and Aarkhet. With cascading waterfalls, suspension bridges, and vibrant villages along the way, this trek offers both challenge and charm.

In the early phase of the Manaslu Circuit Trek, trekkers experience a blend of temperate vegetation, Brahmin–Chhetri communities, and scenic hilly terrain. As the altitude increases, the surroundings change dramatically. By the time you reach Larke La Pass (5,106 m)—the highest point of the Manaslu Circuit Trek-the vegetation shifts to alpine and tundra, the landscape turns rugged and Himalayan, and the culture reflects Tibetan–Mongolian heritage. This transition makes the Manaslu Circuit Trek a rich, multi-disciplinary experience, blending nature, culture, and adventure.

Villages like Samagaon, Dharmasala, and Dharapani offer peaceful overnight stops with panoramic mountain views and authentic local hospitality. While the trek demands physical effort, the awe-inspiring scenery and cultural encounters make every step rewarding.

If you’re looking to further explore the region, consider adding a side trip to the Tsum Valley. Known for its ancient monasteries, hidden caves, and deep Tibetan roots, Tsum is a sacred Himalayan valley. If you have at least three extra days, our travel planners at SheGuide Treks can seamlessly include it in your itinerary.

Whether you're an experienced trekker or a passionate explorer, the Manaslu Circuit Trek with SheGuide Treks offers an unforgettable experience in one of Nepal’s most preserved trekking regions. Let us guide you through this incredible journey.

FAQs

Q1. What permits are required to trek Manaslu?

This is one of Nepal’s restricted trekking destinations. Trekkers must obtain a special permit in addition to the regular trekking permits, including park entry and TIMS. In total, four permits are required for this trek: ACAP, MCAP, TIMS, and an Immigration (Restricted Area) Permit.

Q2. Can a solo traveller trek Manaslu?

Solo trekkers are not permitted to trek in this region. A minimum of two trekkers is required, and the trek must be accompanied by a Nepal Government–licensed trekking guide. Without meeting these requirements, trekking in the region is not allowed.

Q3. Why is Manaslu Circuit Trek restricted?

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is designated as a restricted trekking area by the Government of Nepal to regulate tourism in the Manaslu region, specifically between Jagat and Dharapani. As a restricted area, independent trekking is not permitted, and all trekkers must obtain a special entry permit to access the region.

According to government regulations, each trekking group must consist of a minimum of two trekkers and be accompanied by a licensed local trekking guide. In addition, all permits must be arranged and processed through a registered and licensed trekking or travel agency in Nepal. Self-employed or freelance guides are not authorized to obtain the required permits for the Manaslu Circuit Trek.

Q4. How difficult is Manaslu Circuit Trek?

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a moderately challenging journey, perfect for hikers of all levels seeking a true Himalayan adventure. This trek takes you along rugged paths through remote villages, offering an authentic glimpse of rural Nepalese life. While the trails are demanding, the level of difficulty largely depends on your physical fitness and preparation.

Most of the trek follows off-the-beaten paths, providing a unique and unforgettable experience. High-altitude trekking is never easy, and you will encounter several challenges along the way. But don’t worry — with patience, self-belief, and a steady pace, these obstacles are far more manageable than they seem.

Q5. What is the permit required for Manaslu Circuit Trek?

For the Manaslu Circuit Trek, all foreigners except Nepali nationals must obtain three permits. These are the ACAP, MCAP, and the Restricted Area Permit. ACAP and MCAP can be arranged through the respective conservation authorities. The Restricted Area Permit is issued by Nepal Immigration.

Since Manaslu is a restricted region, trekkers must travel through a licensed trekking agency. The agency will arrange all your permits for you, so you don’t have to worry about the paperwork.
